This year I’ve witnessed a wonderful golden autumn in Liepaja, Latvia. Not every year happens to see such a beautiful, colorful and warm autumn. Despite lack of time, I just couldn’t ignore that season, so I grabbed my camera and took a walk in my beloved town – Liepaja.

On December 6th in Liepaja Trade channel drowned small ship. On the next day my friend and professional diver took part in rescue operation of the boat. Owner of the ship is Louie Fontaine. I've made reportage of the rescue event.

On August 12th I've photographed the "Silver Wedding Anniversary" of friends of mine, Vasiliy and Olga, in Liepaja. 25 years of marriage is called a "Silver Wedding Anniversary". Wish them a Happy Married Life!

On Friday 4th the cornerstone of Liepaja's new concert hall "Lielais Dzintars" (Giant Amber) and its message to next generations was laid. Official foundation stone ceremony brought together Prime Minister of Latvia, Valdis Dombrovskis, City Mayor Uldis Sesks, architect of the Giant Amber Volker Giencke and others.

On 9^th – 11^th in Ventspils took place annual international creative camp for photographers Art Camp 2013. The event is very remarkable and interesting – about 300 photographers gathered out there. We have visited festival for the fourth time in a row (didn’t miss a time since first Art Camp 2010). Traditionally Art Camp took place on Baltic seacoast in Ventspils. Part of the event was organized in Piejūras kempings this year, what is very convenient and gave atmosphere of comfort.

Lections were organized in the house of theater Jūras vārti – great place for such an event. Every Art Camp there were lectors, who impressed at most, this time favorits  – Gunars Binde (Latvia), Olersandr Lyapin (Ukraine), Martin Vrabko (Slovakia) and Svetlana Petrova (Russia). There was Igor Sakharov (Russia) as well (created absolute furor last year), but he was unavailable for the most of the participants because his lections were organized for very small amount of people. I know photographers in person, who didn’t visit Art Camp 2013 because of this. Anyway, this year Igor Sakharov’s wife (Svetlana Petrova) got laurels of glory. Actually, there were not many people from previous Art Camp, mostly came new participants. Was expected two times more people than arrived this year. There was enough time for informal dialogues with photography masters between lections and master classes. Lectors were open for chats and answered the questions we asked.

At the same time with Art Camp 2013 took place first Fusion Bodypainting Festival.

While Art Camp were represented drones for air shooting. Sony Latvian branch has organized photo contest with main prize Sony NEX-6 camera with two lenses. By the way every contest participant got small prizes as well. It was not the only contest while Art Camp – I’ve got as one of the winners flash light soft box for cocktail preparation shooting (every participant got coctail for free), curated by Spot studios.

Today on 12^th July I’ve visited opening  of art exhibition “Salvador Dali. Materialization of the surreal” in museum of Liepaja, which will be available till 13^th Augusts. On this exhibition are presented originals of Salvador Dali works – lithography, ceramic, medals and sculptures from privet collections.

Salvador Dali (May 11, 1904 – January 23, 1989) – Spanish painter, sculptor, filmmaker and writer. One of the most famous artists of surrealism.

I am very pleased with my visit to Salvador Dali exhibition; his art works amazed me with its creativity and strangeness, with its meaningful, with composition and colour. I’ve spent there about two hours and am going to visit the exhibition again. So I am quite impressed.

Today is 8th March and International Women's Day is celebrated all over the World. The focus of the event in different regions of the World vary but overall center of attention is woman. So, dear women, happy Women's Day!

Every year in winter anglers from neighborhood come to Liepaja to take their chance to get some smelt. Smelt is a kind of fish, that inhabits the seas of the northern parts of Europe and in winter it has the spawning season. It goes for spawning to the freshwater trough the channel to Liepaja lake. This is spectacular event - crowd of people get on the ice, while frost and seat there night and day for fishing. I've got the opportunity to get some pictures of the event this year as well. On 12th - 13th took place Latvian junior table tennis championship 2013 in Liepaja. Participated juniors up to twelve years old (2000 year of birth). So I've got invitation to make a reportage of the event. For me it was interesting to do this as I myself play little bit table tennis.

We were spending our weekend in the country cottage, when the real winter came to us. It wasn't first snow of this winter, but today in the morning we were surprised how much snow we've got just in one night. Everything became white and clean. Snow covered all around. I was forced to clean the road and path, so I had to work rather with the shovel than with the camera. But anyway as soon as we got suitable light we took few shots. Today was the official opening ceremony of the new biomass cogeneration plant in Liepaja and there was presented to quests Calendar 2013 with photographs of the construction process. We've designed entire calendar layout and sent it to the press. All photographs in this calendar are our.
